The 2016 Campaign is well underway and we kicked it off with a bang. Our Breakfast and Auction this year brought in more than every before thanks to the dedication and hard work of an amazing group of volunteers from the Yukon Government. AND of course because of a whole community of support from auction donations and celebrity servers to breakfast goers and donors.

The event raised over $27,000!

Over the past twenty-two years Yukoners have raised over $2 million through the United Way Yukon. Absolutely all the money raised here in the Yukon stays in the Yukon and 100% of all payroll donations go directly to projects.

You will see to the right  that we have already reached 37% of our goal this year - and we are only in week one! This is because of ongoing payroll donors as well as the Breakfast and Auction event. Ongoing payroll donors are of great help to the United Way because it gives us a more stable idea of how much funding we have annually (and thus how much we can give away). These donors commit to a certain donation/pay ongoing until they change their minds or retire! It's easy and it helps alot.

How does the United Way Board allocate the funds that are raised each year?

  • United Way of Yukon funds community programs that are critical to the mental, physical and social well being of Yukoners.

  • The United Way of Yukon Community Engagement and Investment Committee meets to review identified priority needs, to assess project plans and evaluate funded projects.

  • The Allocations Committee works with local agencies and funding applicants, and undergoes the important work of funds allocation.

About Donations and Payroll Deductions

  • Payroll Deductions are an excellent way to donate to the United Way. Just $5 or $10 per pay can make a real difference. Workplace Coordinators are provided with United Way brochures and donation forms for delivering to workplace staff. Staff choosing payroll deduction will receive a tax receipt notice from their employer on next year’s T4.

  • One Time Cash or Cheque Donations can be made. The United Way will send tax receipts to (cash/cheque) donors by the end of January.

  • Donations can also be made by Credit Card securely, online at: A tax receipt will be e-mailed to donors.

  • For more information on how the United Way spends your money please visit the Canada Revenue Agency website at: Click on “Charities Listings” search for United Way Society of Yukon and you can see exactly what % of our money goes where.

  • Don’t forget about the First Time Donor’s Super Credit which gives a much higher donation credit if you are first time donor. See the CRA website for more info.
