Big Brothers Big Sisters

Community Mentoring Program - Whitehorse and Dawson City

The funding supports a volunteer recruitment and the mentorship program which provides mentors that teach by example the benefits of giving back and of respect.

Summer Job Coach, Waterfront Crew - Whitehorse

Funding assists people with disabilities to become active in the community, learn real job skills and enter the job market. The coach assists approximately nine adults cleaning the Millennium Trail.

Training for Parents - Whitehorse

Funding provides for a minimum of 4 training sessions for 32-48 parent and caregivers of children with special needs using the Handle with Care program focusing on speech and mental health. The funding also helps to provide meals, transportation, and child care.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Society Yukon

Inclusive Community Lunch Program - Whitehorse

The funding provides hot lunches for up to ten people daily.

Therapeutic Riding Program - Whitehorse

Funding supports the wages and contract fees for instructors to deliver a therapeutic and recreational horseback riding program for people with physical and intellectual disabilities.

HELP Program - Canadian Red Cross

Medical Equipement Purchase for Yukon Office

Purchase of wheeled walkers, adult two-wheeled walkers, junior two-wheeled walkers and wheelchairs with elevating leg rests, all of which are available for use in all Yukon communities where required.

Learning Disabilities Association Yukon

Camp Raven - Whitehorse and Cawson City

Funding assists in the provision of camps for children with learning difficulties. Literacy tutoring is included with wilderness activities.

Skookum Jim Friendship Centre

Wilderness Wellness Project (Tan Sakwathan Youth Diversion & Family Support) - Whitehorse

The program will organize a wilderness expedition to help youth develop healthy coping and life skills, connect with their culture and to engage in meaningful discussions about the challenges they face in their every-day lives.

Victoria Faulkner Women's Centre

Community Kitchen, Mothering Your Baby & Parent-Child Mother Goose Programs - Whitehorse

United Way Yukon funding is supporting the community kitchen, a low barrier weekend evening drop-in program for women to eat and support one another. Funds are also supporting the Centre's Parent-Child Mother Goose and Mothering your Baby 1st Year programs for new moms.

Youth of Today Society

Angel's Nest Youth Centre Dinner Program - Whitehorse

United Way Yukon funds provide youth attending the Centre with one hot lunch daily from Monday to Friday. Youth are also able to use the kitchen and learn cooking skills. The Youth Of Today Society works with high risk-youth developing youth programs that have a positive impact on their lives.

Celebrate Summer Inclusively: Rec Program - Whitehorse

Funding supports a summer recreation program that aims to provide opportunities for people with disabilities

to participate in one or more recreational activities throughout the summer.    
 

Yukon Learn

Poverty and Homelessness Action Week & Whitehorse Connects Outreach Computer Program

Funding assists in the 5-day community-wide event focuses on poverty as well as the 2 day Connects event where volunteers provide free services to those in poverty.
The computer program teaches basic computer literacy skills to marginalized people in Dawson and Whitehorse. It is expected to support 20-30 people/week.
